Yesterday, I came home and posted this on Facebook, "45 minutes at CVS...to get one of my 2 prescriptions and a blank stare....then another 15 to fill the "blank stare" prescription...only to get home and realize they subsituted the original prescription...call CVS back to ask if they know about her immune suppression medication and checked on any counter indications with the substitution before filling it only to get...No....Let me check on that for you..Please do."...
I don't normally get so annoyed. I don't know why I couldn't shake this "feeling" but I was not comfortable last night.
About 30 minutes after giving Savvy her antibiotic she started to scream...uncontrollable screaming. We call the pharmacist back...I hear Robert ask..."okay now what are the "abnormal" side effects" .... "nauseau and vomiting is not common but can be"...as my little girl is trying desperately to hurl and yet nothing comes out.
Robert starts googling like mad...Savvy is screaming...we watch for an allergic reaction...check with pharmacist..check online ... could this prescription have dairy in it?
For a child that has difficulty demonstrating pain due to all of the crapolla she has been through...last night...it was clear...ALL NIGHT!
She cried and screamed and could only get "comfortable" for about 10 minutes at a time when I would press down on her stomach....it was a long night....a long morning....
Soooooooo.....we talk to the dr this morning and tell her how Savvy's little body freaked on the medication (not Dr. Ponytail - he is out sick --- MWAH we hope he feels better!) and she says that cramping is not a usual side effect but severe cramping as I described "could happen"...it is not the norm....the change the pharmacist did by making it generic could have affected her since the compound does change...this is an "abnormal" reaction...well....yeah.....Liver Mami's KNOW that if there is an "abnormal" reaction to a medication...our poor babies will probably have it! Errrr!!!
Savvy is so exhausted she won't even eat her fave breakfast...she just wants to curl up with her blankie and watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse..
So a new prescription has been called in...fingers crossed...
