November 30, 2008

I can not begin to tell you how spoiled we were this weekend....I mean my little girl...I mean me and Robert...I mean the whole familia!  Savvy's Madrina Rosie flew in for the Thanksgiving weekend!

Picture this...6 am....Savvy is having a fiesta in her room with her Madrina. I can hear over the baby monitor.  They are in the bathroom and Savvy is going pee pee in the potty (yeah...happy dance...happy dance)...I hear lots of "talking".  Savvy has a lot to say...then the most precious words.  "Ana, get up Savvy needs her meds and then you can go back to bed!"....HAPPY DANCE>>>HAPPY DANCE>>>>HAPPY DANCE!  Yup!  We gave Savvy her meds and then her Madrina fed her, danced with her, read books, played doll, got dressed all while Savvy's Mami and Super Papi slept in another hour or so....LOVED IT!!!

Savvy was so sad when we dropped her off at the airport...she had a little pout on her face and then we had a temper tantrum on our hands when she realized Madrina was not getting back in the car!  We miss her very much already!

We were up last night gluing little flowers to Savvy's headband for her birthday and making a top for the barbie doll that is going to be on top of Savannah's cake and we looked through old pictures....pictures of Savvy's birthday last year...at the Ronald McDonald House with her beautiful eyes although so yellow and tired.  It is so amazing...so very, very amazing to look at my daughter....she is truly a gift.  Every moment with her is truly amazing...she is going to be 2 in just a few days...On December 5th she will reach the birthday we were so afraid she would never see...when you wake up on December 5th know that it is truly a miraculous day...a miracle given to us by our donor angel's family.

We have a SUPERSTAR among us....but we already knew that!  But let me tell you we let out a shriek last night when we logged on to COTA's main website and saw a picture of the cutest little girl on their PSA!!!  Check the little Warrior Princess ..

Savvy pee peed and POO POO in the potty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

November 27 - We are Thankful!

Savvy pee peed in the potty!!!!!

November 26, 2008

Okay...I should have written but then everyone would have to hear about the caged monkey we have in our house...yeah... the one that likes things organized even her POOP!  Yup...she places her poop "patties" on the crib rail in order and the smile on her face just tells you how proud she is of herself.  We have had this happen two days in a row now....so what would any good, self respecting parent do? Buy a potty and start potty training???  Nope....(although we did)....get training pants for her so it is harder for her to take her diapers off???? NOPE...(although we did)....Grab your camera and start videotaping the caged monkey letting her know that we do expect to use this video in the future if she comes home with someone we do not approve of...YUP!  That is what we did....you ask yourself how grown up is it for one to premeditate blackmail against your daughter when she is only a toddler???  Not very....but we did .... and we will break out the video if push comes to shove...not grown up at all.... we know....can't help ourselves....

So now that you have your good dose of poop stories (remember...you just read about it...we had to live it!!!!)...we want to wish you a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  Savvy's Godmother/Madrina Rosie is flying into town to spend this weekend with her favorite godchild (granted she is her only godchild).

Savvy is tucked in bed with Pooh Bear...a nice and clean Pooh Bear...Pooh Bear that wears a bikini and sandles (yeah...Savvy has discovered how to play dress up today)..we did not have the heart to tell her that Pooh Bear is a boy....

Savvy's last words before falling asleep is what I leave you with..."Night, night..Wov, Wov"!

November 24, 2008

We read "Goodnight Thumper" six times...each time Savvy is telling him "Night, Night"....then she insisted we read the White House/Black Market catalog that came in the mail....pointing at "shoes" on every page...."Mama, shoes"...yeah...she has not started young...we did the catalog five times.  She kept grabbing it and insisting!

So, after a small temper tantrum (WOOOHOOO her liver is working wonderfully!) because Mami was not moving fast enough in getting her milk poured so that we could go, "night, night", a change of diaper, a song, and lots of hugs...I put her down for her afternoon....certainly....she is sleepy....for goodness sakes she did wake up her parents at 4 am, and 5 am....certainly....

So, as I type I am listening to a little Warrior Princess jumping up and down in her crib yelling, "NIGHT, NIGHT"....hmmmmmm.....do you see the irony in this situation? or is it just me?!

November 23, 2008

My little goof ball has learned how to put her socks on (her hands or her feet..depending on the mood), has learned to put her shirt on, and has learned that she is going to be "two".  Today, we went for a stroll and she put her baby in the stroller...it is so cute to see how grown up she thinks she is.  I would not recommend her for any babysitting jobs just yet since she has no problem dropping her baby on her head...thank goodness this baby has her own little carrier so Savvy can strap her on her chest - did I tell you she feels all grown?!

I am very excited today....we found Fleishman's light  (I think that is how it is spelled) at the second grocery store we went to....although we have not found the stick form yet there was a small celebratory dance at the grocery store today.....this butter has NO DAIRY in it!!!!  I just can't wait because tomorrow I am going to make some frosting ( a test run for Savvy's birthday cake! )....I hope it works...keep your fingers crossed.  I am going to make a hula girl cake....we are having a luau theme birthday for Savvy at the beach (Super Papi's favorite song is Hula Girl by Jimmy Buffet and Savvy's favorite place is the beach!).  At first we were going to make a pineapple cake to keep with the Hula theme but I think I can do this Hula girl cake...I have been Googling up a storm and although I have never tried anything like this I think that the Mami genes are coming out in me...I can't wait!  I am going to have to take a picture of the "masterpiece" or the disaster...remember I can always convert it to a giant volcano and still keep within the theme!

Ahhhhhhhhh..........my baby girl is going to be two.........how exciting is this?! With the excitement in my heart I can never stop thinking of our donor family.  They are the reason that my baby girl gets to see this birthday.  Yes we have many heros in our lives...many who came together to save our Warrior Princess but without the gift of an organ donation this never could have happened.  Our donor angel was two....yes...two when our angel's family made the decision to save my baby...I celebrate my baby girl's birthday...not a day goes by that I do not celebrate with her...but with this celebration I do so with the greatest respect and gratitude for the gift I have been given.

November 22, 2008

What a cute stage Savvy has entered.  "Night, night baby" she tells her doll as they both lay down for a nap.  She recognizes the difference between her stuffed animals and the doll she has...it is precious! Yesterday she looked at a framed photo we have of her and Robert and she points and says, "Dada and Baby".... my little "baby" girl is growing up!

Today, this "grown" little girl has been walking around with her socks on her hands. She refuses to put them on her feet - she is wearing them like mittens....she is a funny little Warrior Princess!  I think she we need to go back up to CHOP soon so she can actually wear mittens....she has the most beautiful little hat and matching scarf that our dear Lisa knitted for her...in pink Savvy's favorite color.  I know this little princesa is going to LOVE wearing the scarf...she is such a little diva!  I think about our sweet angel all of the time...she knows it.  Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am grateful to have had the blessing of our sweet angel in our lives if even for a short time.  I know she must be cracking up in Heaven watching Savvy run around with her socks on her hands!

A caged monkey...........Yup...that is what Robert called her......

Now...you know a poopy story is coming so go ahead and stop reading now if you are not up to it.

Okay. You were warned.

I swear she is the cutest thing in the world.  She stood standing in her crib with her shirt on.  Her hands filled with what looked like melted chocolate but oh no we were not so lucky.  Her ears....filled....yes...with "chocolate" and a BIG grin on her face.  She stands with a shirt on and her pants flung across her bedroom floor alongside a dirty diaper that one would hope came from a very sloppy and messy burglar that broke in took what they wanted and left without causing an incident....but NO..the diaper belonged to my child...this cute little dimpled child that looked up smiled and said, "Hi", as we walked in.

Yes.....a caged monkey.....

I hand her some baby wipes and she starts to clean her crib and crib sheet...yes "clean"...you know spread the "chocolate" around....this is so gross and yet rather funny.  Robert looked at me in horror and I swear for a brief moment he contemplated getting on his motorcycle and driving...driving to North Dakota to borrow some sugar or something....I know he thought that if he ever were to abandon his family that this would be the moment in time that would call for it...but lucky for us he chose to start the bath water.

As I cleaned the crib, I hear Robert telling Savvy, "no...there is nothing cute about this....no....not cute...I mean you are cute but this is not cute".

Well...she is clean....for now....so I will take advantage and put her to bed....her clean crib....for now......

November 20, 2008

Savvy is giggling because Buddy is licking her hand over the baby gate.  I will never get tired of hearing her giggles.  Can you believe I have made an appointment to have her 2 year vaccinations???  Yeah...2 years old....in 2 weeks our little Warrior Princess is going to have that very special birthday.  She is going to be 2!!!  I can't wait for 3,4, 5, 10, 15, 18, 19, 21, 30, 35, 67, 89 and all of the years in between..but 2...this one will always be super special to me!

November 19, 2008

My life is a lot of things but I can never claim that it is boring!  We are starting to pack up our house because we are going to be moving! Life has thrown us some curve balls but then who does not have curve balls thrown at them?  That is what life is all about, is it not?

We are going to miss the Tampa area.  We have the BEST doctors in the world here...we have found the most beautiful friends here...we have watched our daughter fight and recover here.

We do look forward to the adventures that are ahead of us...and what has not and will never change for us..is the love we have for each other....as we have learned time and time again...the love, health and happiness of our family and friends is what is truly important no matter where you are.

November 17, 2008

She is so darn cute...okay...I know...I am suppose to think this because she is my daughter but seriously... even she were not my daughter I would find her so darn cute!  She has a laugh on her that is so funny.  She has a hysterical giggle when you put her in the stroller and hit every bump on the sidewalk you can find.  She has the largest smile on her face when she wakes up and sees you standing by her crib.  She has the most beautiful spirit that only lives in the moment..not in the future and not in the past...in this moment right now.  She has a strong character that scolds the dogs when they are being "naughty"..."NO! NO!" she tells them shaking her finger.  She has a sense of fairness like no other....as we walk in the door from our walk she goes straight to the doggie bone container and gives each one a treat...just one and never lets the big 70 lb dog bully her to give him two and cheat the other.  She is so darn cute.  She is a Warrior Princess. She is my daughter. She is my gift.  She is Savannah. She is my life.

November 16, 2008

"Little girls aren't suppose to be crazy over peas"..this is what I just heard from Robert as Savvy is gobbling her peas.."yum, yum" she says.  She is so funny...when the peas drop off her spoon she will pick up the single pea from her tray and put it in her mouth...we wouldn't want any of the peas to get away!  "Yum, yum Mami. Yum, yum" is what the little Warrior Princess is chanting....oh...I bet I will have a great poopy story tomorrow! :)

November 15, 2008

Another day, another giggle, another temper tantrum, another discovery (Savvy learned how to push her own stroller....genius except for her parents are now walking next to her with an empty stroller ...not looking like geniuses themselves), another poopy diaper (with lots of color!!! WOOHOO!!)...what a blessing for this ordinary, wonderful day with our sweet girl!

November 14, 2008

Great news!  Savvy's labs came back  and everything looks good...her liver is happy and her white blood cell count is normal! Woohooo for the Warrior Princess!

November 11, 2008

My silly, silly girl is fast asleep.  "Night night" she tells me as she grabs her doll and smiles at me when I lay her in the crib.  She then waves "bye" at me and closes her eyes...this silly, silly girl is tired.  She stayed up a little past her bedtime to play tickle tickle and practice her birthday song.  She is silly.  She loves it when you sing Happy Birthday to her and she claps and says, "yeah" at the end of the song...so cute!  I can't wait to sing it to her on her 2nd birthday...a birthday that is so miraculous.  I can't believe we are just a few weeks away from seeing this miraculous day come true.

We so look forward to the holidays this year....so look forward to the day of Thanks (which is frankly everyday in our house)...so look forward to Savannah's birthday....so look forward to Savannah waking up in her bed and finding Christmas presents underneath the Christmas tree....so look forward to what the New Year has in store for us...as long as we are together and we are blessed with good health...nothing can take our happiness away.

November 9, 2008

Winnie the Pooh is such a good friend....even after waking up to a face full of "Pooh"...hahahaha (yup...love my "pooh"py joke!) he still has a smile on his face!  Our little Warrior Princess exploded this afternoon...not sure what happened but when I walked into her room there was "pooh" (okay..okay...I will stop..maybe) all over...she got her bath and then that seemed to energize her!  She was the queen of the "time out" corner today...yup...my little precious, adorable, beautiful, wonderful, perfect little girl decided that she has strong opinions and did not care that mami and super papi told her "no" 3 times...wow....what a little overachiever she is thinking she is all grown already! (Yeah...you know that secretly...okay not so secretly I love it...I love all of the normal kid stuff including the temper tantrums...a gift that B.A. has given us).

Okay...it is getting late but I just had to share my "pooh" story...you know how I love my "pooh" stories...okay...last one....I am "pooh"ped! :)

November 7, 2008

Tears....for the first time in a long time my little Warrior Princess shed tears at the sight of the needle.  She was crying in anticipation...just quiet little tears and her little body shaking...it was sad.  Just simply sad.  Nurse Julie is wonderful- I have mentioned this before...but today she made Savvy's day...she gave Savvy an early birthday gift (Nurse Julie and Savvy share the same birthday!) after her "pokey" ... a big Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal.

Savvy hugged her Winnie all the way out the center...he sat on her lap all the way home and she even tried to share her granola bar with him...she just loves this Pooh bear. Right now Pooh bear and her are playing with her pumpkin and the beanie babies..she has him propped up next to her and when she moves she carries him with her.  It was nice to see her have a genuine smile after her "pokey".  THANK YOU JULIE!

And now we wait....we wait to see what the numbers are on the blood work.

November 6, 2008

FEISTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY......Yup that is how my little Warrior Princess woke up this morning....thinking she is 2 already!  Buttttttt.....thank goodness that is over (for now....).  I think her feistiness wore her out cause we actually crawled back into bed this morning and watched Sesame Street!  She has never just watched a television show for more than a few minutes so it was cute to see her dancing with the Elmo during the Alphabet song.

We are off bright and early tomorrow morning to get our labs done....another pokey to make sure her liver is still happy and that her White Blood cells are still in the normal range.....we really DODGED a bullet the last few months .... we were so blessed that she did not catch an infection for she truly had NOTHING to fight it off with....so hopefully tomorrow we will get the pokey and things will remain in the normal range...after we get 3 normals in a row then we can relax!

Yes We Can!

I woke up this morning and cried...still in awe.  I sat glued to my television last night with my husband ... watching every state as the colors on the map turned blue and red.  I was one of the people they spoke about on CNN...a new voter...an immigrant...a female..one who waited 3 hours to cast her vote...I came home Friday to put Savvy down for her nap and I whispered in her ear. "Today, mami voted for your future".

Independent, Republican, or Democrat we have to acknowledge that what has happened in the last 24 hours is historical.  I woke up this morning and cried and was hugged by my husband...I supported Barack Obama because of his policies but I cried today because of the barrier he has broken for my little Warrior Princess...a barrier that I grew up feeling...an unspoken barrier at times and at times clearly spoken.  Last night we did it.  We elected a man and fulfilled the great Dr. Martin Luther King's dream... he was judged by the content of his character and not the color of his skin.

Savannah - biracial - the daughter of an immigrant mother whose parents brought her to this country to create a better future for herself.  Savannah will grow up knowing that the American dream is not only possible but attainable...the HIGHEST office in the land can be reached.

I cried because I saw the future for my daughter - and that future changed last night for me...changed for the better.  Last night this country was going to elect the first black man to hold the presidency of the United States of America or the first woman to hold the vice-presidential office of this great land....history....to be alive to witness this history...it leaves me in awe.

November 3, 2008

Well, I was all set to head off to school and then I tripped and hurt my knee...OUCH!  Now I am laid up on the couch ... although I can not complain cause Savvy is just cracking me up...she is so darn adorable!

Savvy learned how to say, "Knock Knock" on Halloween....she learned QUICKLY!  She loved all of the shiny things that our neighbors were putting into her basket.  At first she was tentative, then she smirked then she got to the point that she would say, "Knock Knock" and hold up her basket and then when she got her treat she would politely wave at them and say, "Bye Bye"....of course the only problem was that if a family was not home and we had "done our part" it was tough convincing our little Warrior Princess to move onto the next house...it was pretty funny!

So...we had to dump her candy out due to her allergies of course ... so the next morning Super Papi filled her pumpkin with all of those tiny beenie babies we had purchased at a yard sale.  She LOVES them in her pumpkin!  She carries her pumpkin around like it is the newest hippest purse in town!  NOW...she wants to go "knock knock" at the neighbors again!

Savvy has been doing really well...just enjoying being a toddler.  We are set to have a labs this week..still have to wait and hear back to see if we can do it Wednesday morning...we want to make sure we have our favorite nurse doing the "pokey"!

I can't believe we are already in November!!! Before you know it....our little Warrior Princess is going to be 2 !!!  Wow...2....what a beautiful number!
