It is a rainy day today and I have to confess that we girls are still in our pj's ... yeah...we had lunch wearing our pjs! We are chilling out...well atleast Mami is! Super Papi is working and probably wishing he were in his pj's...but then he has not cleaned one dirty butt all day...atleast that I know of?!
To update on our educational assessment - it was done last week. I have to tell you that it was thorough! Seriously, how Savannah sat in a chair for 3 hours doing task after task is beyond me ... frankly, the walls were starting to close in on me after hour 2! The chair kept getting smaller or my tush kept getting bigger .. not sure which but I tell ya I wanted to start to help to answer the questions so we could speed up the process! Thing is that Savvy was very attentive ... I can't even imagine the torture one would go through with a child with a short attention span. Savvy "likes school" she wanted to go back the next day!
She past her hearing exam with flying colors...wooohoooo...if you recall she failed it last time because she had fluid in her ears. We do not get an official report for several weeks and then we will meet with the school team to write down our plan for her schooling. We are lucky that she is in a great school district and I have heard great things about the principal at what will be her school. We are certain she will start Pre-K this fall...the program is what we need to discuss.
From talking to the assessors they agree with what I knew from the beginning. Socially although she has been kept away from children her age most of her life she is doing really well (age appropriate), Cognitively she is doing really well also but it is her verbal expression that she needs help in. I got a phone call later in the week wanting to clarify Savvy's first year and why she was not with other children...ahemmm.....I thought I was pretty clear about the liver disease..dying thing but I guess it did not click. I finally asked have you ever witnessed someone suffer with liver disease? I got silence. It was not a cold, or a virus, my girl was dying the entire first year of her life as in her body was deteriorating and shutting down and as far as I am concerned she is a rocket scientist. I think that finally got things to a point that it "clicked" because the assessor told me she simply had to justify why Savvy needs social interactions with other children rather then a one on one (as requested by me - she has been without other kids far too long) because she is such a sweet child, easy mannered and follows direction so well.....yeah....she is a sweet soul...I know...I am her Mami...but even my little Warrior Princess Rocket Scientist needs help.
Okay...gotta go play trains. We have a follow up with the ENT this week. Her boogies are gone (woooohooooo!!! 8 weeks was enough!) but she still has trouble breathing...we shall see what is going on there...the great news is that she did not pick anything "funky" up!
