In a few weeks....silent DRUMROLLLLLLLLL....we will be celebrating a year of Savannah not having a single hospitalization! We have had ER visits and of course blood draws...that is our life but NOT ONE hospitalization since last year!
Last year, we spent Super Papi's birthday in Philadelphia. She was fighting for her life {again!}....I was told "nothing" was wrong and yet OBVIOUSLY something was wrong...kids that have "nothing" wrong don't end up in the hospital with an NG tube up their nose. I was told she could have cancer...THANK GOD this was not the case. She had some horrid experiences with residents that had no business touching her (and I informed of the such) but in the end her amazing team believed she simply got "a virus" and could not shake it off.
LAST YEAR........................

Submitted by Robert on Tue, 07/06/2010 - 12:20You know she does not stop talking...have no idea where she gets this from
and it is so darn cute! Savvy is doing so well lately...her vocabulary is increasing a great deal and she has not even started school...I can't even imagine what life will be like when she is able to fully express herself! Watch out!
She informed Robert and myself that she NEEDED a pink backpack for school....We went to Target last night and they were putting out the school supplies (Already!) can you believe this...my child...my baby wants a pink backpack so she can go to school! And she will actually BE going to school in a few months....it is beyond overwhelming {in a very good way!}! I knew better then to go down the lunchbox aisle....

Submitted by Robert on Mon, 06/21/2010 - 12:51We are having our first playdate with our new neighbor. Savvy received a wonderful gift when we looked over and saw pink toys spread all over the yard a few weeks ago just 2 doors down. We went over and introduced ourselves and it turns out the pink toys belong to another little 3 year old princess! How wonderful was that?!
We are getting ready (i.e. Savvy is anxiously awaiting and asking a million times over and over when her friend is coming) to make some princess cupcakes and have a playdate with our new neighbor....2 princesses...lots of sprinkles in various colors...2 icing cans...and 1 mami who is brewing the "liquid gold"....I am very excited for her! I love 3 ... she is healthy and happy...that is all that matters...I love 3 and so look forward to 4!!

Submitted by Robert on Wed, 06/16/2010 - 14:31Savvy is doing great - this kid bounces back amazingly well. She is currently running around the house in her princess undies since she refuses to wear anything but her belly...because her belly is beautiful! And we can argue with that?!

Submitted by Robert on Wed, 06/09/2010 - 10:21So we headed to the ER last night after a bout of black tarry stool...which is commonly associated with a GI bleed. I am going to make this short simply because I am tired. We were sent home last night with a "come back if things don't change" speech. Her testing looked fine but the Xray showed her spleen to be pretty large...larger then normal for her...not sure becuase it is not her transplant team...actually I think the dr was a bit put off that her transplant team was not the one seeing her but when your kid has what you think is a GI bleed you take her to the local ER not hop on a plane and take her out of state. Another story for another day. His only saving grace in my book was his admiration for our little Warrior Princess....he commented about how impressed he was with how she takes her needles for her labs. This is something that we are proud of her for but frankly wished she freaked out like any other kid because it only happens once in a blue moon...but this is her life.

Submitted by Robert on Mon, 05/31/2010 - 20:40Savvy said her prayers grabbed her stuffed "S" (She told Super Papi it is an "S" teddy bear ..."SSSSSSSS" for "Sega"...Sega is how she says, Savannah...gotta love Sesame Street!)- her new fave at night time and passed out!
We had a princess picnic thanks to Super Papi who was up late last night icing and putting sprinkles on cupcakes to surprise Savvy today. She went searching for buggies at the park and had an awesome time! She walked...I should say skipped with Super Papi to get a pony ride. As I was videotaping the huge grin on her face I started recalling....3 years ago she wasn't even 6 months old yet...3 years ago we sat in a hospital room at All Children's in St. Pete...yet another hospital admission. Today, she was enjoying a pony ride. I believe in miracles. I am witness to one daily.

Update: The bridge has been eaten...it was just tooooo much to resist!
So we have our appt for the wellness exam today...you know the one where all of the mami's of the healthy kids get to enjoy....serves me right for typing anything up because this morning Savvy wakes up with a fever. She is hot and does not want to move and just miserable....this is what is odd...when the nurse took her temp she was borderline...by the time the doctor saw her...she was fine. I mean fine. Happy as a clam and excited about a trip to the park I promised her. He gave her the all clear. Agreed with Dr. Ponytail that the rash all over her body is probably post viral and it will take a good long time to get out of her system due to her age.

Submitted by Robert on Wed, 05/26/2010 - 11:58I have to share the most heart breaking (non-medical) thing I have ever seen...Savvy woke up at 3 am she was curled up in her bed crying....sobbing. I actually woke up to the tears and thought she had a bad dream. I was carressing her back and talking to her and she wouldn't stop sobbing so I picked her up to take her to my bed with me and realized that she had peed herself. With the exception of our little vacation last week (didn't want an oopsy in a hotel bed) she has been wearing her "big girl panties" to bed and last night she had an accident. My heart broke when I realized that she was crying because she thought she did something wrong....heart wrenching!
On the not so heart wrenching news ... we are off to the doctor's again tomorrow...this time it is almost funny. Savvy's rash is still around but has not gotten worse so I think Dr. Ponytail was right and we are just going to have to ride it out...her body fighting another virus and it is working its way out.
